Introduction to M.I.M.S Project

Aim:

To deliver drug education to young people, imams and committee members, in a culturally sensitive and imaginative way within established community institutions i.e. mosques/madrassas.

Module One - Mosque Management

RSFI will provide a drugs awareness programme that will help mosque leadership to better understand the issues affecting their community in relation to drugs.

Imams, Maulanas & Mosque Teachers

Imams will be a key component to the success of this programme. They are increasing having a pastoral role in the community and are being approached by different members of the Muslim Community for help and assistance on drug related issues.

RSFI has developed and can deliver a culturally and faith based anti-drugs programme/tool kit that will enable Imams to address some of the new challenges they face.

Madrassah Students

RSFI will work closely with mosque management and madrassah teachers to give a powerful an anti-drugs to young people from the ages of 8-16 who attend the madrassa (after school clubs) on a daily basis.

RSFI in partnership with the madrassa teachers would like to achieve the following:

  • To give an anti-drugs message to boys and girls who are attending the madrassa tailored around the P.S.H.E and healthy lifestyle policies in school.
  • To develop positive peer pressure as a preventative measure.
  • To look at alternative diversionary activities for young people.
