Mujaddidun TV Show PDF Print E-mail
Right Start Foundation International (RSFI) developed a TV format, which has elements of reality series such as Survivor, , The Apprentice, and Fear Factor. Every attempt has been made not to plagiarise any existing formats. The format to be developed was to enable a number of young Muslim Men and Women from the Arab world to:

·         Aspire and become the recipient of €100,000 to provide a humanitarian project in his country of origin.

·         Receive the support and tutelage of Amr Khaled, the number one Islamic TV/Satellite preacher in the Muslim World.

There was also to be an emphasis on encouraging young women to participate and engage in this programme to ensure equality and access is demonstrated.

“The Revivers” has been developed and recorded; producing the show took over one year and 4 months of preparation and filming. Right Start Foundation international worked with ‘open auditions’ and interviews were held across the Arab speaking world which attracted thousands of applicants. From these interviews, 16 contestants had been selected. The filming took place in four different Arab countries (Lebanon, Jordan, Sudan and Egypt)

Teams were given a series of tasks designed to test their skills in:

·         Presenting positive Islamic role models

·         Coping with everyday scenarios which Muslims have to deal with, and

·         Developing Islamic concepts and methodologies to produce positive outcomes.

These tasks required ire skills such as salesmanship, negotiation, leadership; teamwork and organisation; with each episode covering single task (most probably non-Business orientated). At the start of each episode, the teams each choose a team leader for the duration of the task, though in later episodes the team leaders will sometimes be nominated by Amr Khaled himself. The teams followed in the execution of their tasks by Amr Khaled’s trusted advisors. On the completion of a task, the teams reported back to the "preacher’s maglis". Here Amr Khaled, with the help of his advisers, revealed the results and discussed the teams' performance, identified areas for development in the candidates' strategies and personal skills and qualities.

The losing team is then subjected to a further detailed examination by Amr Khaled, after which the team's leader was required to choose two team members to accompany him or her into a final round of discussion. These are nominally the two members of the team with the weakest performance. Amr Khaled made a decision on which of these candidates will leave the competition.

As candidate numbers are reduced the composition of the teams is periodically rearranged. When only 2 candidates remained they proceeded to the ‘Grand Finale’ and perform one last task after which one candidate is selected and will receive the highly coveted prize to develop a humanitarian project with the support and assistance of Amr and the possibility of getting their own show on a Arab TV network.

The aims of the series and tasks were to demonstrate the virtuous and pious qualities of being an active and progressive Muslim living in modern societies. The themes had various activities, which extenuated the required characteristics needed by candidates to be successful in contemporary settings but still maintaining Islamic attributes and qualities that will endear them with the rest of humanity.

The style of the tasks given to the contestants reflected the socio economic, cultural and religious challenges being faced by young Muslims.
