● The residential We took the young people on a two -day residential in Markfield, Leicester. Everything was catered for from transport to food and bedding. At the residential we worked with the young people to begin to put together the toolkit in terms of their views about drugs and their recommendations. We captured a lot of information and the young people did fantastically well in presenting their ideas and all came away very impressed. ● Visit to London & presentation to DCSF/Home Office We travelled south to the capital for an exclusive tour of parliament. Here the young people were given access to all areas from the debating chamber to the Queens’ secret rest room! Later that day we were invited to present our ideas to DCSF. Twelve young people from the project made a presentation to civil servants from the DCSF and Home Office ahead of the publication of the government’s drug strategy. This was a great opportunity for the young people to air their views and they took to it really well. The civil servants were very impressed with the project and the young people’s insights and were given first viewing of our MYIP video trailer. ● Dissemination at RSFI conference We launched the project at our national drugs conference attended by over 200 people and disseminated some of the ideas during the workshops. The film produced by the project was well received and the young people presented their thoughts to the audience.
